WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Wausau Police took just over a half-pound of methamphetamine off the street during a routine traffic stop.
Officers conducted the stop on June 30th for an unspecified violation. During the stop, K9 officer Lowkey alerted his handlers to more than 320 grams of the drug stashed in the vehicle.
The driver, identified as Dylan M. Hanson, was arrested and is facing felony charges for possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is free on a $750 cash bond with a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 14th and a pretrial conference on August 20th. The charges carry a maximum sentence of more than 40 years in prison, plus the possibility of additional time due to Hanson’s status as a repeat offender.
Officers announced the bust on Facebook, saying, “As we head into Independence Day, our message is simple: let’s celebrate with fireworks, not felonies. Be safe! We will be here if you need us.”
