
MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers let a late lead slip away on Sunday and missed out on a three game sweep of the last place Colorado Rockies at American Family Field.
The final on Sunday was 4-3 in 11 innings. The Brewers won Saturday’s game 5-0.
The Brewers were going for the sweep on Sunday and had a 2-1 lead heading into the 9th inning. Former Brewer Orlando Arcia hit a home run to tie the game. The Rockies took a lead with a run in the 10th but Milwaukee tied it up with Joey Ortiz scoring on a wild pitch. The Rockies scored again in the 11th and made it stand up for just their 19th win of the season.
Grant Anderson took the loss after Trevor Megill suffered his 3rd blown save of the season. Sal Frelick and Christian Yelich hit home runs.
On Saturday the Milwaukee pitchers dominated with Quinn Priester, Aaron Ashby and DL Hall comining on a one-hitter. Priester went seven innings with 11 Ks and two walks. Joey Ortiz had a two run homer, Brice Turang had two RBIs and Rhys Hoskins one.
Milwaukee is 47-47, two games behind the Cubs in the Central Division standing. They have Monday off before starting a series in New York with the Mets on Tuesday.
