WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Schofield woman is accused of providing drugs to a man who died after taking them.
Police say Marisa M. Arne sold the man drugs in the parking lot of the downtown Wausau library earlier this month. First responders were called to his home later in the day, where they found him unresponsive in the bathroom.
He was hospitalized and died a few days later. Autopsy results showed fentanyl in his system at the time of his death. Doctors also said he may have suffered a heart attack.
Investigators noted that the victim nearly died from a previous overdose and recently completed a rehab program.
Arne is being held in the Fond du Lac County jail and will make an initial appearance in Marathon County on Friday, June 27th. She faces more than 60 years in prison if found guilty.
