Michael Nieman
STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — A 52-year-old Rudolph man is accused of his 9th OWI after officers found him passed out behind the wheel of a pickup.
It started with a report of a parked vehicle near the intersection of Marsh Road and Elm Road. When officers approached, they found a man sleeping in the driver’s seat.
When officers made contact with the man, identified as Michael Nieman, they immediately noticed a strong smell of alcohol. A bottle of Vodka was also found in the center console.
Officers did not administer a field sobriety test, but Nieman blew a .24 on a breath test, three times the legal limit for driving.
Nieman made an initial appearance in Portage County court on Friday. Court records show a public defender has yet to be assigned to the case.
He is being held on a $7,500 cash bond with further court action set for June 27th. If found guilty at trial, he faces up to 12.5 years in prison.
