RIB MOUNTAIN, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – Hundreds gathered in Rib Mountain for the No Kings rally against President Donald Trump.
Organizers walked along the three blocks of protestors, urging everyone to remain peaceful and respectful. Participants expressed a strong desire to take action.
Kat Savyannah, a protestor, said, “I can’t not do anything anymore. I can’t stand back and let things happen, and not stand up and not do something.”
Terry Shultea, another protestor, added, “My mother immigrated here after World War II, she grew up under the Hitler regime. And she would be horrified to see what was happening in America 80 years later… This is for her.”
There were also verbal conflicts between protestors and a group of counter-protestors who said they didn’t align with either political party, and wanted to present a different viewpoint. Christopher, a counter-protester, explained, “Well essentially everyone has organized these mass protests, so I of course wanted to come out here and demonstrate an opposing opinion… Of course you’re always going to have people who are told one thing their entire life, they are going to of course be resistant… I’m not asking for them to agree, I’m just asking for them to go back home and think about what we are talking about… A discussion is important.”
