STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – The Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin was awarded a $1,000,000 music grant from the Copernicus Cultural Foundation last week.
The grant aims to take music in Portage County to the next level. The foundation honors the legacy of Edmund and Kathryn Bukolt, who believed deeply in music’s ability to inspire people.
Jenny Riggenbach, the CEO of The Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin, said, “It means the world to us… We can stand on the shoulders of this amazing group of community members to continue the legacy of Edmund and Kathryn… That’s at the heart of what community foundations are all about, it’s about what we all give to a community that we love… And people that we will never meet.”
The music-focused grant is the largest arts endowment gift that the Community Foundation has received in its 40-year history. They plan on distributing the funds in $40,000 increments annually.
The Copernicus Foundation Music Grant Program is set to launch next spring, with the goal of reaching students, musicians, and youth all across the country.
