Wausau Ignite
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The inaugural Wausau Ignite softball game is tonight at Athletic Park.
The Ignite will play the La Crosse Steam, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 PM. Fewer than 100 tickets remain for tonight’s game, according to a text blast sent by the club this morning.
Wausau is the 5th Northwoods League Softball market. The league completed its first season in 2024, with teams in Mankato, Minot, North Dakota, and Madison, along with La Crosse. Much like their baseball counterparts, players with remaining college eligibility are recruited to stay with host families while honing their skills during the summer.
The teams will play a 42-game season with all 21 of Wausau’s home games at Athletic Park, which was remodeled last off-season to handle both softball and baseball.
Fans can purchase tickets and get more information on the 2025 season schedule at the Wausau Ignite website by clicking here.
La Crosse vs Wausau is the only softball game on the schedule for Tuesday. The Ignite will travel to Madison to take on the Night Mares on Wednesday, while La Crosse will return home to play their home opener against Manakto.
