PITTSBURGH, PA (WSAU) — Former Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers is expected to sign a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers, multiple sources have indicated.
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport posted the news on X this afternoon. Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed, though other insiders suggest that details of the contract still need to be finalized.
Rodgers played in 18 games over two years with the New York Jets after he was traded by the Packers following the 2022 season. He was 6-12 as a starter with a 63% completion percentage. He threw 28 touchdowns while recording 11 interceptions.
The Jets released Rodgers on March 12th. Pittsburgh finished 10-7 last year, good for second place in the NFC North, losing to division rival Baltimore in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.
Former Badger Russel Wilson split time under center with former Bears QB Justin Fields for the Steelers. Neither are returning for the 2025 season, meaning Rodgers is expected to be the Week one starter with former Oklahoma State Cowboy Mason Rudolph as his backup.
Pittsburgh is scheduled to visit Green Bay on Sunday, October 26th (Week eight of the season).
