WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A sure sign of Summer returns Wednesday in Wausau’s 400 Block.
The annual Concerts on the Square music series will return with Rising Phoenix playing from 6:00-8:00 PM. Wausau Events Executive Director Alissandra Aderholdt says they’ve brought back all the usual crowd favorites and some new names. “There are certain bands that are crowd favorites, like Brad Emanuel and Hip Pocket, but every year the lineup is different. We try to bring in a variety of local, regional, and national acts and this year we have all three of those on our lineup.”
This year’s schedule also features a twist, with one Concert off the Square in Weston on August 20th. Aderholdt says the 400 Block was not available that night, so they’ve decided to take the show on the road. “They’ve been a great [partner] for local events, and they’ve wanted a concert over there for a while. So we decided to go ahead and put one over there.”
Each week will feature a lineup of food trucks parked along 4th Street outside the Grand Theater. Attendees are allowed to carry in their own beverages and snacks as well.
Attendees are welcome to reserve their spots with lawn chairs throughout the morning and afternoon. Blankets will not be allowed until after 4 PM to preserve the grass in the park. Indoor furniture, such as couches or recliners, is not allowed.
Those rules will apply to the show in Kennedy Park as well.
The full schedule can be found at the Wausau Events website.
