MERRILL, WI (WSAU) – A suspected drunk driver is under arrest after a fatal one-car crash on Highway 107 near Merrill last weekend.
Jurnee R Robertson of Irma is jailed after officers say she failed to negotiate a turn near Tug Lake Road and crashed into a tree. Her passenger, identified as Allison M Jones of Merrill, died at a local hospital as a result of the crash.
A second passenger, a 24-year-old male, was briefly hospitalized and then released. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department says the accident happened around 1:30 AM on Sunday.
Robertson is being held in the Lincoln County Jail. Court action against her is pending, though records indicate that she is facing numerous traffic citations, including failure to wear a seat belt, possession of open intoxicants in a motor vehicle, and operating left of center, causing death.
An accident reconstruction team was on the scene for nearly five hours after the wreck Sunday evening.
