GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – Warren Grignon, 43, of Keshena was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for distributing fentanyl that led to a fatal overdose at the Menominee Tribal Jail.
The sentencing was announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Richard G. Frohling on May 16.
Grignon smuggled the drug into the jail. His actions resulted in three overdoses in December 2023; one inmate died. He pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and distribution of controlled substances on February 7.
Judge William C. Griesbach emphasized the severe impact on the community, deeming a lengthy sentence necessary.
Following his prison term, Grignon faces 10 years of supervised release and must pay $6,943 in restitution to the victim’s family.
The case was investigated by the Menominee Tribal Police and the FBI, with prosecution by Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew J. Maier in Green Bay.
