LOYAL, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – The National Weather Service has announced a confirmed tornado touched down in Clark County Thursday evening.
The report came in at 5:02pm over Loyal. It was confirmed by law enforcement there.
They said a damaging tornado and quarter sized hail were the dangers with this storm.
A second confirmed tornado was reported in Clark County near Colby, moving northeast at 45 mph. Significant damage is reported.
The National Weather Service confirmed a tornado in Dodge County that caused widespread damage in Mayville just after 6 p.m.
Dodge County Emergency Management confirmed reports of storm damage on Clark Street near Mayville High School and damage to Mayville Engineering Company.
Police are asking everyone to avoid areas with storm damage. They have emergency crews in the area helping with road closures and power outages.
Radio listeners across the state heard confusing messages from the EAS alerts that were issued by the National Weather Service, saying that radio stations’ licensees had expired and to “contact sales support”. Those messages were in error, and are apparently part of a faulty software upgrade.
