COLBY, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — The National Weather Service has confirmed an EF-2 tornado hit the Colby area Thursday night.
They say it was on the ground from 5:21 p.m. to 5:28 p.m. and traveled about four and a half miles, starting in rural Clark County west of Unity, and traveling through the southern edge of Colby.
Estimated peak winds were 120 miles per hour.
NWS reports showed damage to farm outbuildings, trees, and power poles.
The roof of a home was also blown off, which the NWS considers a sign of an EF-2 level tornado.
The tornado continued into Colby, where it damaged another home, multiple outbuildings, power poles, and a car dealership before it dissipated.
