WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – If you drove down Grand Avenue today, you likely noticed new banners lining the street.
The American Legion, with assistance from the city, hung 50 banners featuring local veterans.
“It’s pretty neat to see these banners go up, because it recognizes the efforts and sacrifices so many veterans have made over the past years,” said Bob Weller with the American Legion Post #10.
Families of the veterans fund the banners, contributing around $10,000 this year. The money will support various community projects led by the American Legion.
The banners will remain displayed until November 11.
