Lolipa “Israel" Tambwe
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Ethiopian Community Development Council has identified the 16-year-old boy who drowned in the Wisconsin River early this week.
According to an email sent to supporters, he was Lolipa “Israel” Tambwe, who resettled with his family from the Democratic Republic of Congo about two years ago.
Leaders with the ECDC in Wausau say Tambwe was a “cherished member of our refugee community.” A fundraiser has been set up to help his family with funeral expenses through Givebutter.
Tambwe and his family were members of the First United Methodist Church in Wausau, where he played piano and helped lead the Church’s Swahili services.
