WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Wausau man accused of his 5th OWI has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Matthew Corp entered the plea on Wednesday and was bound over for trial. The 60-year-old is accused of driving drunk in a residential neighborhood on Saturday, April 26th, nearly striking a child as he was doing so. He then stopped and threatened to shoot another group of people, leaving the scene before police arrived.
Officers managed to catch up to him a short time later. He blew a .20 on a breathalyzer test, ten times his legal limit of .02.
In addition to the felony OWI charge, he is facing a count of recklessly endangering safety. The counts could land him 20 years in prison and up to $50,000 in fines if he’s found guilty at trial.
Corp is free on a $2,500 cash bond. Further court action is scheduled for May 14th.
