GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers received some good news on Monday when wide receiver Christian Watson confirmed that he may be able to return to the field sooner than originally thought.
During an interview with Fox 11’s Ellie French, Watson says he’s doing well since tearing his ACL in January, saying, “Recovery’s going really well. I’m in a really, really good spot. I’ve got a couple more months ahead of me, but I’m attacking it every day. I’m in a really good spot.”
Despite playing in a career-high 15 games last season and ending with 29 receptions for 620 yards and two scores, Watson has been hampered by injuries since being selected 34th overall during the 2022 NFL Draft, most notably his issues with his hamstring, which the team felt was behind him after spending time with experts at the University of Wisconsin’s School of Medicine and Public Health last summer.
The Packers drafted former Texas star receiver Matthew Golden and former TCU receiver Savion Williams during last month’s NFL Draft, setting up the possibility that Watson will be allowed to test the open market next off-season, as his contract does not include a fifth-year option.
