STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of an unidentified individual during a drug investigation on Wednesday morning.
Officers were executing a search warrant in a home on Franklin Street at 9 AM. When they opened the door, they heard what sounded like a gunshot. The officers backed off and brought in an interior drone to assist the investigation.
They found one person dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No officers or residents were injured in the incident, and no further information has been provided.
The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office will work with the state Department of Justice to investigate the incident. All of the officers who were involved are cooperating.
Once the investigation is complete, the results will be turned over to the Portage County District Attorney.
