GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers decided to add another wide receiver to their roster during the 3rd round of the 2025 NFL Draft, selecting former TCU star receiver Savion Williams.
Williams, who measured at 6’4 and 222 lbs., is someone scouts compare to former Vikings, Falcons, and Steelers receiver/running back Cordarrelle Patterson due to his ability to throw and run the ball in high school and college. He ran a 4.48 40-yard dash during the NFL Combine but struggled consistently to catch passes, averaging a 10% drop rate during his collegiate career.
Williams won the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award in 2024, earned honorable mention for the All-Big 12 team, and was selected to the 2025 Senior Bowl after he recorded his second-straight career-best season with 60 receptions, 611 yards, and six touchdowns.
The Packers’ selection of Williams and former Texas star receiver Matthew Golden signals that the organization is looking to find quarterback Jordan Love a number one receiver, as deep-threat Christian Watson is expected to miss all of the 2025 season, and Romeo Doubs struggled with injuries and was suspended by the team due to personal issues.
