WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Central Wisconsin man has pled no contest to four charges, covering two open cases, including reckless homicide by delivery of drugs and possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine with the intent to distribute.
Matthew Gesicki was in a Marathon County courtroom on Friday, where he entered the plea. In exchange, four additional counts were dismissed but read into the record, meaning they can be considered at sentencing.
The 37-year-old is accused of selling drugs to another man, who later ingested them with his girlfriend. Investigators say Gesicki told the man to be careful because he had been putting fentanyl “in everything.”
The woman died. The man, Andrew Washburn, survived and is serving prison time for homicide by delivery of drugs and distributing fentanyl.
A calendar call was scheduled for Wednesday. Sentencing was not immediately scheduled. The most serious charge against him carries a maximum of 40 years in prison.
