MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Bucks may be close to getting back one of their star players for their upcoming playoff series against the Indiana Pacers.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the team’s medical staff is no longer recommending point guard Damian Lillard continue taking blood-thinning medication after being diagnosed with a blood clot in his right thigh earlier this month, and he has been cleared to return to full-contact workouts and practices.
Lillard has already been ruled out for Saturday’s Game One matchup with the Pacers, but the team has not made a formal decision on whether he’ll be able to return to action for Game Two, scheduled for next Tuesday.
During the regular season, Lillard averaged 24.9 points and 7.1 assists per game, which were both top ten totals in the NBA this season. The Bucks are expected to stick with the combination of recently acquired guard Kevin Porter Jr. and off-season signee Gary Trent Jr. to fill in for Lillard against the Pacers until he can be officially cleared to return to the lineup.
