RHINELANDER, WI (WSAU-WAOW) โ Damage from last weekendโs ice storm has caused the Hodag Dome to deflate, meaning some Rhinelander residents will need to vote in a different location on Tuesday.
The City Council met in an emergency session on Sunday to approve moving the polling location to James Williams Junior High School. All residents who would normally vote at the Dome will instead vote there.
Ice and wind damage caused several tears in the inflatable roof. Then, when the power cut out, a backup generator failed, causing the dome to deflate.
The roofโs manufacturer, The Arizona Company, is on site today to assess the damage. Itโs unclear when the roof will be fixed, but for now, all events scheduled for the Dome have been called off.
At one point during the storm, more than 60,000 homes were without electricity.
