WESTON, WI (WSAU) โ The Village of Weston has opened a new outdoor recreation area at Weston Avenue and Ryan Street.
Administrator Jami Gebert says the Prohaska Family Memorial Park is ready for use at 7403 Ryan Street. The park includes more than 80 acres and will serve as a โsilent sportsโ hub for the eastern portion of the Village. โHiking, biking, walking, go check it out. Itโs a cool spot with a lot of great natural features to it.โ
The Village Board has also approved fishing in the parkโs ponds. She says there are also paths cut into the park that will be groomed in the winter, making it a great place for a run in the summer or winter activities when the snow flies.
โItโs a really cool, natural space,โ added Gebert.
The Village is also working to install a handicapped-accessible Kayak launch at Yellowbanks Park. Village leaders secured funding through a DNR Stewardship grant and other matching grants. That will be put in place later this summer.
Gebert also notes that the Kennedy Park improvements will get underway this summer including the construction of a tournament-style baseball and softball diamond complex and concessions area. The Village Parks and Recreation Committee is due to receive an update on the status of those projects this evening. โWe do plan to start construction [in June or July] so people will see new fields there by the end of summer. [And] more exciting news is coming [on Monday.]โ
