Hello Lovelies!
So if you’ve been following my Eleve Medspa Journey with the Vitality Program, you know that about a month ago, I met with my Wellness team; Dr. Babiarz and my coordinator Katrina.
The results of my Dexa Scan, my VO2 Max Fitness Assessment, and my Bloodwork all showed that I was producing more insulin than I should be – the result of eating way too much sugar and too many simple carbs. I admit, I have the biggest sweet tooth (especially when it comes to soda) and I love pasta, bread, and rice. However, I didn’t realize that I was actually doing slow damage to my body that, even if I don’t see the effects of it right now, can lead to diabetes in the future if I don’t make a change.
So, this is how I’ve been working to change that trend.
I had my one month check-up with Katrina yesterday, (March 13th) and we went over what changes I’ve been implementing over the past month. the last 30 days or so, I’ve cut way back on carbs and sugar- I’ve stayed under 100 grams of carbs, almost every single day, and I’ve stayed under 25 grams of sugar mostly everyday as well. This even includes not having a regular soda – if I had soda cravings, I switched to sparkling flavored water or even a diet soda if I was really craving one. I also made up this weird brain trick where every time I’m out in public and see a water fountain, I make myself go over and take a big drink. I’ve been finding ways to flavor lean meats and vegetables, finding recipes that stay in my boundaries, and I love the challenge. I think of it as a “game” to try and make as delicious of meals as I can with the guidelines provided, and the team at Eleve is wonderful at providing suggestions and resources.
When it comes to exercise, I was very honest with Katrina and told her that it was sometimes hard to find time to go to the gym now that things are starting to pick up a little bit more, and my love for being outside is coming back now that the weather is warming up. “No problem!”, she said. “Let’s find you ways to get your workout in at home, or enjoying exercise outside.” This includes apps to help with workouts tailored to my specific level and needs, taking walks outside, and playing fun games with my kiddos.
The Journey to health doesn’t have to be a miserable one, and Eleve Medspa is showing me just that. I’m determined to turn the fat into lean healthy muscle, and I can’t wait to see what my next DexaScan shows!
