WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The former coach of the D.C. Everst Dance Team has pled guilty to a lesser charge after she was caught stealing thousands of dollars from the team’s operating account.
Alexandria Villiard pled guilty to a misdemeanor count of theft in a business setting on Tuesday and was fined $100.
She had been facing a felony count for stealing $12,000 from the team’s bank account, including funds from dance clinics, which went into her personal Venmo account. Investigators also found she sold dance team costumes without permission.
Villiard told investigators the shortfall in the dance team account was due to overspending.
Court records show the 29-year-old has paid the money back. She will also pay court costs and submit a DNA sample.
Villiard previously pled not guilty to the charges.
