MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers are expected to be without pitcher Aaron Ashby to begin the 2025 season after he suffered an oblique injury over the weekend.
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Curt Hogg, Ashby received an MRI earlier this week, which showed that he had suffered an oblique strain, but the severity of the injury is still unclear and will require a second opinion.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy didn’t rule out Ashby being placed on the IL and told Hogg that the upcoming second MRI will determine the team’s decision.
Ashby, 26, has struggled to stay healthy since being drafted by the Brewers 125th overall during the 2018 MLB draft. He suffered a shoulder injury back in 2023 that caused him to miss the entire season but put up promising numbers last season, pitching in 28.1 innings and posting a 2.86 ERA with 33 strikeouts.
