
Wisconsin Badgers
MADISON, WI and BEMIDJI, MN (WSAU) — Both Badger hockey teams scored multi-goal victories on Friday.
The Badger men ran away to a 4-0 lead after one period en route to a 7-3 win over Notre Dame at the Kohl Center. Ryland Mosley led the offense with two goals and two assists on four shots. Owen Mehlenbacher recorded one goal and one assist.
Zach Schulz and Simon Tassey also scored in the win.
Tommy Scarfone made 22 saves in net. Wisconsin improves to 7-15-1 (27 points) in B1G play, good for sixth place. The Badgers and Irish will skate again tonight at the Kohl Center. Pregame coverage on WSAU will begin at 7:00, with face-off at 7:30. That’s the back half of a Badger doubleheader today, which starts with the MBB game against Oregon at 11 AM (10 AM pregame).
Meanwhile, the women thumped Bemidji State 6-1 to open their final WCHA series of the regular season. Casey O’Brien led Wisconsin with two goals and one assist.
Four other Badgers found the back of the net including Laila Edwards (one goal, two assists) and Cassie Hall.
Finley McCarthy and Caroline Harvey each recorded a goal and an assist.
Ava McNaughton made 11 saves in net.
It’s the fifth straight victory for Wisconsin and second straight by a 6-1 scoreline. The Badgers and Beavers will skate again this afternoon in the regular season finale before meeting again next weekend in the first round of the WCHA playoffs at LaBahn Arena in Madison. The winner of that best-of-three series advances to the single-elimination WCHA Final Faceoff in Duluth.
