Hello lovelies!
I’m back to update you on my Eleve Medspa journey to wellness.
So after learning that I was at a significant risk for being pre-diabetic and diabetic down the road, Dr. Babiarz and my Wellness Coordinator Katrina helped me to figure out how I was going to cut back on all that sugar I was constantly used to eating all the time, along with cutting back on carbs and incorporating more exercise into my daily routine.
I honestly was nervous, I didn’t think I would be able to do it, especially since I’m an avid soda drinker. My usual diet consists of anywhere from one to three cans of Coke or Pepsi / or fountain drink if I’m eating out, tons of pasta, tons of bread, and tons of sweets.
I really wasn’t aware that all of those simple carbs and sugary foods were what was contributing to my fat. Now I get it alot where people say, “Well why the heck are YOU on a diet!? You don’t need to lose weight!” …. Well the thing is, I’m not trying to lose weight. in fact, I may even gain a little weight because the goal is LESS fat, and MORE muscle, and since muscle weighs more, the number on the scale might just go up.
After seeing my scans and really breaking down the process with my Eleve care team, it all made sense. I just needed to switch to healthier alternatives, and I am seriously FLOORED by how many yummalicious foods I can actually still have! On top of that, there are so many options of foods I can switch to. Let’s put it in perspective:
My personal health plan is to
- Stay under 100 grams of carbs a day
- Stay under 25 grams of sugar a day
- Exercise for 60 minutes (20 minutes of that with a heartrate of 140-150 bpm)
That’s seriously SO doable! Enough to feel like a challenge, but not completely depriving.
For example, I LOVE burgers. I simply take off the bun and wrap it in lettuce and let me tell you, I honestly think it tastes better that way.
I switched soda for sparking flavored water while also incorporating more plain water as well. I love chocolate and ice cream, so my chocolate protein powder mixed with some peanut butter and almond milk makes for a DE-LISH treat!
And yes, I do still give myself grace. But Katrina is great about keeping me motivated and encouraged. I love learning more about nutrition and sharing my story with you. I can’t wait to see my end results – I’m trying to be SUMMER BOD READY before June!
Do you think I can do it??? Stay tuned for next week’s update!
-Mikala
