GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) — Fans who plan to attend the NFL Draft in Green Bay should start planning their visit now.
Packers Director of Public Affairs Aaron Popkey says the first thing you should do is download the NFL One Pass app, which the league will use to communicate with fans. That includes when tickets will be available and where you should go to enter the staging area.
“Get that on your [smartphones] now,” said Popkey. “Right now there’s high-level information on it like FAQs. But, in early March, we anticipate that more information will be available such as transportation, parking, and how to get into the event. Registering for a ticket will also be on One Pass.”
Tickets are free but you do need to register in advance. Fans should also familiarize themselves with the NFL’s carry-in policies for the event to prevent any surprises at the gates.
Popkey says the next thing you should finalize is your transportation to and from the event, which is expected to bring hundreds of thousands of fans to the area over three days. He expects shuttle buses from outside communities to be a popular option. “[Attendees] should watch for that information as it becomes dialed-in. It’s a great option if you want to take that route. Going to an event of this nature, the energy that’s around it, to ride to it with other fans is a lot of fun in and of itself.”
If you’re driving yourself, Popkey says parking will work much like it does on a Packers game day. Homeowners and businesses around Lambeau will have cash parking options. There will also be satellite lots offering park-and-ride shuttles to the front gates.
Last year’s event in Detroit brought an estimated 775,000 to downtown Detroit including 275,000 on the first day alone. The total attendance number includes people who attended all three days of the event.
NFL One Pass is also used to manage fan events around the Super Bowl and Pro Bowl.
