MERRILL, WI (WSAU) — A Wausau man accused of starting a Lincoln County jail fight back in November has been deemed not competent for trial.
However, a judge says there is reason to believe that John Dabroski will be able to aid in his defense soon, with proper medication and treatment.
The 20-year-old is accused of battery by prisoners and strangulation after correctional officers say he instigated a fight with another inmate last fall. Officers say several punches were thrown before the two men, both from Wausau, could be separated.
Investigators were brought in but only the 40-year-old victim chose to be interviewed. Both he and Dabroski were inmates at the Jail. No details about what led to the confrontation between the men were released.
No further court action for Dabroski was immediately scheduled. He faces up to 24 years in prison if found guilty on all felony counts against him.
