KRONENWETTER, WI (WSAU) — Water customers in Kronenwetter will notice improved water quality later this year after the utility installed a new filtration system designed to remove manganese and iron.
“This launch is a watershed moment for residents utilizing the Village’s water utility,” said Village of Kronenwetter President Chris Voll. “We have heard and understand their frustrations with the manganese in the water. We know this facility will improve water for years to come.”
The system includes a series of filters hooked up to water lines from well number 2, which had elevated mineral levels. These can cause water discoloration or odor and issues with water fixtures.
It should be noted that the levels, despite being elevated, remain within the EPA’s acceptable levels.
Due to years of iron and manganese buildup in the village’s water pipes, customers may not see immediate results. However, improvement should be noticeable after the spring hydrant flushing.
The effort is part of a four-phase plan to address water quality for Kronenwetter residents.
