TOWN OF MERRILL, WI (WSAU) — Two people were injured in a crash involving a school bus and an SUV in the Lincoln County Town of Merrill on Tuesday.
At around 7:30 AM, the bus was heading north on State Highway 17 and attempting to turn west onto County Road G. Investigators say the driver thought they had enough time to make the turn, but was struck by a southbound SUV.
The driver of the SUV and one student from the bus were taken from the scene with minor injuries.
Both vehicles were inoperable and towed from the scene, and as of mid-afternoon, no citations had been issued to either driver. Officers are continuing to investigate the incident.
The crash closed a portion of Highway 17 for several hours.
