NEW LISBON, WI (WSAU) — Police in New Lisbon have identified the 33-year-old woman who was killed in a triple homicide on December 30th, and formal charges have been filed against the person of interest in the case.
Elizabeth Kolba was found dead alongside two children as officers were performing a welfare check. The situation has since been deemed an active homicide investigation.
Court records show Virgil Thew, the man described as a person of interest in the case, is now facing three counts of intentional homicide. One count includes a domestic abuse modifier.
The names of the two children will not be released, though officers say they were 12 and 13 years old. The criminal complaint states that Thew and Kolba were in a relationship and living together, and the girls had been in his care.
All three victims were found locked in a bedroom with gunshot wounds to the head.
Thew is still at large. There have been confirmed trail camera sightings of him in the New Lisbon area throughout the last week, though officers believe he has left the area by now.
Anyone who sees the 47-year-old should not approach him and instead call local law enforcement or 911.
Thew is also wanted on a probation hold along with the homicide warrant, which was issued on Friday. He is described as a white male weighing approximately 150 pounds. Thew was last seen wearing a dark-colored coat and hat.
