GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – Rumors have begun to circulate that a Super Bowl XLV rematch between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers will take place in Ireland during the 2025 season.
After Sports Illustrated reported on Tuesday that the Steelers “are expecting to play a regular season game in Ireland in 2025,” and that the Packers would be their expected opponent, Packers officials told FOX 11 that the league has not yet confirmed the first-of-its-kind international matchup.
According to Sports Illustrated’s story on the reported game in Dublin, the Packers would be playing as the away team and Pittsburgh as the home team. The league will play eight international matches in 2025, including this one.
The Packers are 0-2 in international games, having dropped their in South America against the Philadelphia Eagles in São Paulo, Brazil, to begin the 2024 season. In 2022, the Packers lost 27-22 to the New York Giants in London.
