MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers are officially staying in Wisconsin for at least another two decades after a new lease agreement on American Family Field was signed by Gov. Tony Evers on Wednesday.
The agreement states that the newly established Southeast Wisconsin Professional Baseball Park District will get $11.4 million from concert ticket surcharges and non-Brewers events, in addition to $25 million to properly winterize the stadium for off-season activities. The state will receive $150 million from the Brewers in exchange for the lease renewal that begins at the end of 2030 and lasts until 2050.
In a statement posted to X, Gov. Evers called the deal a “home run” for the state and that he is “incredibly proud of the good, bipartisan work that has gone into getting to today to ensure future generations of Wisconsinites can grow up rooting for our home team.”
The district will get $365.8 million total from the state and $67.5 million each from the City of Milwaukee and Milwaukee County to fund critical maintenance and upgrade projects over the next 30 years.
Miller Park, the original name of the Milwaukee Brewers’ home stadium when the team moved from County Stadium in 2000, was renamed American Family Field in 2021. This change was announced by American Family Insurance, who purchased the name rights as part of a 15-year deal with the Brewers.
