STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — One of the three men accused of beating 61-year-old Donald Mitchell Jr in a Stevens Point parking lot has reached a plea deal with the state.
Brandon Boehm will plea for charges of reckless homicide and theft of movable property during a hearing on February 7th. Representatives for the 21-year-old requested the hearing during a Monday status conference.
He’s accused of beating Mitchell last Spring as part of a group that was rummaging through his vehicle, looking for items of value they could steal and resell. When Mitchell confronted them, they beat him and left him in the parking lot.
Mitchell was rushed to a Stevens Point hospital and then flown to Wausau, where he died the next day. Doctors say he had multiple fractured ribs and nearly every bone in his face was broken.
Boehm appeared remotely for Monday’s hearing. Records show he is being held in the Waupaca County Jail and will be taken to Stevens Point in time for the February 7th hearing. He faces up to 46 years in prison on the charges; 40 years for the Class B felony and an additional six years due to Mitchell’s age.

Another suspect, Christian Emerson, is scheduled for a week-long trial in January. A third man, Arlin Sangster, was found guilty at trial. He’s serving 20 years in a state prison and another five years on extended supervision.
