STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — A rollover crash on Interstate 39 led to an OWI charge for a Plainfield man Thursday morning.
Officers were called to an area near the US Highway 10 Eastbound ramp at 10:30 AM where they found a Chrysler Pacifica resting on its roof in the ditch. While making contact with the driver, officers noticed signs of impairment.
The driver, identified as 47-year-old David Garcia, failed a field sobriety test and was arrested for a fourth offense OWI and operating with a revoked license.
The crash closed one northbound lane while crews worked to remove Garcia’s vehicle. It’s unclear if he suffered any injuries in the crash.
Court records show he pled no contest to charges related to a 3rd offense OWI back in March. As part of that deal, the OWI count was dismissed and Garcia was sentenced to jail time and fines for two misdemeanor counts including operating with a revoked license.
