MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers’ catcher has won one of baseball’s top awards for the second straight season.
According to a press release from the team, William Contreras has been named the National League’s Silver Slugger winner for the catcher position for the 2024 season, making him the first Brewer to win the award in back-to-back seasons since his teammate Christian Yelich won the award in 2018 and 2019.
The Brewers won the NL Central handily thanks in large part to Contreras, as he finished the 2024 season with a .831 OPS and set career highs with 23 home runs and 92 RBIs.
Other notable players to win a Silver Slugger award on Tuesday night included Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper, New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor, San Diego third baseman Manny Machado, New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge, and Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani.
