MONROE COUNTY, Wis. (WKOW-WAOW-WSAU) — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office arrested one person after a deadly crash Thursday morning.
According to the sheriff’s office, a deputy came across a two-vehicle crash on County Highway A on Thursday, November 7th around 10:20 a.m.
An investigation showed a 2009 GMC Sierra was heading eastbound when it crossed completely into the westbound lane and hit another vehicle. Authorities identified the driver of the GMC Sierra as 39-year-old Kristoffer Cattle of Tomah.
Cattle crashed into a 2016 Chevrolet Spark, which was driven by 63-year-old David Wilcox of Tomah. Wilcox died from his injuries. His passenger was seriously hurt and taken from the scene from GundersenAir.
Prior to the crash, officials were trying to locate the the GMC Sierra after it had been seen driving erratically and hit a sign in the City of Sparta.
The investigation found that Cattle was believed to be under the influence of illicit drugs.
Cattle was arrested and booked into the Monroe County Jail. Some of the charges he is facing include homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle, reckless homicide and operating after suspension causing death.
