WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers have named a local high football coach to a high honor.
According to a team announcement, Wausau East High School’s Tyler Kramer was selected the team’s High School Coach of the Week for leading the Lumberjacks to their first playoff game since 2007 and their first appearance in the WIAA Football Playoffs in 12 years.
After graduating from Wausau East High School in 2017, Kramer, who was born and raised in Wausau, Wisconsin, was formally appointed head coach of his alma mater in 2023.
“To be here and get our second six-win season in the last 20 years, it just shows that what we’re doing is the best thing for the program. It’s an honor. It’s really just showing off the community, the kids, and everybody’s hard work that’s gone into this season. I think it’s kind of a culmination of all the work that has gone into this season and the foundation we’re setting for future years,” Kramer told the team about receiving the award.
In addition to recognition on packers.com, wissports.net, and wifca.org, the winners receive a $1,000 contribution to the school’s football program from the Green Bay Packers and the NFL Foundation.
