MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — Volunteers from Wisconsin are helping in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.
Laura McGuire with the American Red Cross of Wisconsin says as of Monday, three of the region’s emergency response vehicles are deployed to devastated areas in the southeast.
“These emergency response vehicles are really going out to the hardest hit areas, delivering hot food, comfort, water, maybe a hot coffee, maybe a hug and just listening to people,” said McGuire.
There are 25 Wisconsin volunteers in the region
“They could be here spending time with their family, but instead, they’re rolling up their sleeves and really providing comfort to people that need it the most,” said McGuire.
