SHAWANO, WI (WSAU) — Another attempt at a jury trial has been scheduled for Michael Ingold.
After three previous attempts were wiped off the calendar, a Shawano County judge has scheduled a one-month trial between November 18th and December 20th. The 60-year-old is facing one count of intentional homicide for allegedly strangling a woman to death two years ago. Investigators say Ingold and the woman had previous run-ins, and the charges carry a domestic abuse modifier.
Ingold is accused of strangling the woman during an argument. Autopsy results showed she died from “manual strangulation,” though he has denied the charges.
Previous attempts at trial came in September 2023, January 2024, and March 2024. Court records show both sides have been going back and forth over the admissibility of evidence, including phone calls made to the Shawano County jail and testimony from certain witnesses. There has also been an attempt to exclude statements made about guns and hand grenades.
His defense team has also requested to have the charges dismissed with prejudice, meaning they cannot be refiled, for failure to preserve evidence. That request was denied.
No further court action has been scheduled between now and November 18th. The 23-day trial will feature a four-day break for the Thanksgiving holiday beginning November 28th.
