NEW YORK CITY, NY (WSAU) – A former star at the University of Madison has taken the NFL by storm in his first few games in the league, earning him a top honor for Week Two.
According to a post on X by the NFL, running back Braelon Allen was named the Pepsi Rookie of the Week after he scored two touchdowns, including the game-winner for the New York Jets against the Tennessee Titans. Allen beat some other notable performances that included Cardinals rookie Marvin Harrison Jr., who scored twice last weekend and totaled 130 yards, helping Arizona improve to 1-1 on the season.
On September 15, the native of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, recorded a career-high 56 yards from scrimmage off nine combined touches against the Tennessee Titans. On Thursday night, he added three receptions for 13 receiving yards and a team-high 55 rushing yards on 11 carries against the Patriots.
Allen’s strong performance against New England prompted football fans on X to give him high praise, including NFL Network’s Kyle Brandt, who said the “Good Morning Football” crew should get started on making Allen’s “Angry Runs” shirts now, which is Brandt’s popular segment during the program.
