US Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin.
MILWUAKEE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Senator Ron Johnson has been busy so far with interviews and appearances at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee and that will continue Monday night when he takes the convention stage.
Johnson is expected to speak in the 6 p.m. hour of the convention at Fiserv Forum.
This morning he spoke with Wisconsin delegates at their morning breakfast.
Johnson told the delegates the party needs to capitalize on the moment we are in right now after the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. He encouraged unity and coming together with Democrats.
As for his speech tonight on the Fiserv Forum stage, Johnson says he still plans to highlight the differences between the two parties.
“The same thing I’ve been saying for about the last 13 years,” said Johnson. “We’ve got serious challenges facing this nation. There is a policy divide in this country. They’re not the Democratic Party of our parents and grandparents. That Democratic Party cared about working people and cared about people struggling. This one is all about wokeism. I’ll point out those differences and talk about how Republicans have a better way.”
Wisconsin Republican U.S. Senate candidate Eric Hovde is also expected to speak at some point during the four-day convention.
