MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — You’ve got less than two weeks to file your taxes, and if you’re not ready, you’ve got time to ask for an extension.
IRS spokesman Christopher Miller says you don’t need to have a reason to file for one.
“Maybe you don’t have some of the paperwork together, maybe life is just getting in the way and you don’t think you’re going to be able to make that April 15 deadline,” said Miller.
You can find free filing options online at IRS.gov. But Miller reminds you to pay your taxes if you owe some. An extension of the filing date doesn’t extend the deadline to pay.
