FOND Du LAC, WI (WSAU) — The woman accused of killing Cindy Schulz-Juedes in her prison cell made a court appearance on Monday.
Taylor Sanchez faces one count of first-degree intentional homicide. Investigators say she beat Schulz-Juedes to death, with autopsy results showing skull fractures. Her cause of death is listed as head trauma.
According to investigators, Sanchez told her mother that she recently stopped taking her medications and that she was “hearing voices again.” She also admitted to investigators that she hit Schulz-Juedes with her hands and feet, adding that the voices were telling her to kill the 69-year-old.
Investigators say she also thought Schulz-Juedes was using her toothbrush to scrub the toilet.
The 27-year-old Sanchez will return to court on March 21st for a status conference. She’s currently being held in the Wisconsin Resource Center in Oshkosh, which specializes in mental health treatment for those in the state prison system.
A judge did set her bond at $1 million with a no-contact order against Schulz-Juedes’ family. Should Sanchez be found guilty, she would face an automatic life sentence with only the possibility of parole left up to the Judge.
Schulz-Juedes had just begun a life sentence for killing her husband Ken Juedes, though court records show she had been preparing to file an appeal in early February.
