WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A city-wide primary for Mayor and a district 4 Alder primary will be required in Wausau.
Incumbent Katie Rosenberg will be challenged by current District 4 alder Doug Diny and resident Christopher Wood on February 20th. The top two vote-getters will advance to the April 2nd general election, the 3rd place finisher will drop off the ballot.
In District 4 three candidates have completed their paperwork to take over Diny’s seat. That includes former District 4 Alder Tom Neal and residents Debra Weiss and Vylius Leskys.
Five other races are uncontested including District 3 where Tom Kilian filed non-candadicy. His mother, Terry Kilian, is the only candidate to complete the paperwork for the seat. William Harris also took out papers but didn’t complete them. Incumbents will run unopposed in Districts 2, 7, 10, and 11.

District 1: Incumbent Carol Lukes, Challenger Catherine Kronenwetter
District 2: Incumbent Michael Martens
District 3: Challenger Terry Kilian. Incumbent Tom Kilian filed non-candidacy
District 4: Challengers Tom Neal and Debra Weiss. (Incumbent Doug Diny running for Mayor)
District 5: Incumbent Gary Gisselman, Challenger Orlando Alfonso
District 6: Incumbent Becky McElhaney, Challenger Bronson Lobato
District 7: Incumbent Lisa Rasmussen
District 8: Incumbent Sarah Watson, Challenger Joshua Dirks
District 9: Incumbent Dawn Herbst, Challenger Victoria Tierney
District 10: Incumbent Lou Larson
District 11: Incumbent Chad Hanke
Municipal Judge Mark Sauer is also running unopposed for another four-year term.
