CHICAGO, IL (WSAU) — Former Wisconsin Badger men’s hockey coach Tony Granato has announced that he’s been diagnosed with a form of cancer.
In a statement on X, Granato said he will begin treatment for Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma this week. He will be stepping away from his duties as an analyst for the Chicago Blackhawks and NHL Network while receiving treatment.
“I wish I could reach out to everyone individually, but felt like this was the best way to share the news,” said Granato. “My family, faith, and friends will be my strength to help me through my treatments. I appreciate the love and support I have received already.”
