CANTON, OH (WSAU) — Two former Green Bay Packer linemen are one step closer to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton.
The Hall announced 25 modern-era semifinalists on Tuesday including offensive Guard Jahri Evans and DE Julius Peppers. Evans played one season with Green Bay after a decorated career with the New Orleans Saints, and Peppers spent two years in the Green and Gold before ending his career where it began with the Carolina Panthers.
Evans was a Saint from 2006-2016 before ending his career with the Packers in 2017. This is his second year of eligibility for the Hall, and second time being a semifinalist.
Peppers came into the league in 2002 after a decorated football and basketball career at the University of North Carolina. In 266 career games with the Panthers, Bears, and Packers he recorded 159.5 sacks and over 700 tackles. He also recorded 11 interceptions from his defensive end position.
Other notable semifinalists include former Chicago Bears kick returner Devin Hester, Houston Oilers and Tennessee Titans RB Eddie George, and Wide Reciever Anquan Bolden who spent time with the Ravens, 49ers, and Lions.
The 25 semifinalists will be trimmed to a list of 15 finalists ahead of Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas. The selection committee will then meet to select between four and nine of those players for enshrinement.
