MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) — The Marshfield Wildwood Zoo has announced the addition of two screech owls to their facility.
According to a press release from the zoo, the birds suffered eye injuries in the wild, meaning their chances of survival in the wild are slim and they will spend the rest of their lives in a zoo setting.
Zookeepers believe that the birds are female due to their color and size, and they will be asking residents to vote on names through the zoo’s Facebook page.
Screech Owls are generally comfortable in small spaces and given their nocturnal nature the best time to view them would be at dawn or dusk.
The owls came from the Hoots to Howls Wildlife Rehab and Wildcat Creek Wildlife Centers in Indiana, who also assisted with the transfer to Marshfield.
